Best Bikinis to Surf In

Long beach days call for a swimsuit that offers security, coverage, support, and comfort that can withstand the waves. 🏄‍♀️

Here are the factors to consider when shopping for a swimsuit to surf in (or do other beach activities in)!

Fabric Base

Functionality first is our rule of thumb when it comes to shopping for surf or active swimwear. All of our swimsuits feature plenty of stretch, SPF 50+ sun protection, and fast-drying qualities. For the more eco-conscious shopper seeking something that’s sustainable, over half our swim collection features a fabric base that is made of 82% recycled poly, which means this fabric contents is from 100% recycled material plastic. You can shop our sustainable collection here

Print & Color

We suggest steering away from solid white fabrics, especially those that are thin and flimsy. Luckily, even our lightest prints, like Willow and Florence, are fully lined and do not turn transparent when wet. Alternative fabrics, such as our Ribbed or Wave Fabrics, are a great option for someone who wants a solid color that’s still suitable for surfing.

Support Level

For surfing or swimming laps, you may want to opt for a swimsuit with high coverage and support. For a lighter activity, like water aerobics or paddle boarding, you can wear something with moderate or low support. We have all our top pics on based on the activity you’re doing!

Our Favorite Swimwear for Surfing or Intense Beach Activities:

Bikini Top: The Scoop Top

We suggest surfing in our Scoop Top because it offers the highest level of support and comfort for all bust types. It’s perfect to surf alone in or wear for extra support underneath wetsuits. Sizes D+ have a layer of power mesh for increased support, so the waves won’t tug on your top. Our friend and surfer, Rachael loves this top for multiple reasons:

“The Scoop Top has extra support from the thick adjustable straps. It has a nice compression sports bra effect, and I did wear the top underneath some of my spring suits for extra support!”

Bikini Bottom: The High Waisted Bottoms

We love our High Waisted Bottoms for surfing because they’re high coverage and won’t slide or ride up due to the currents. These bottoms have maximum booty coverage and are offered in two booty sizes for every hip size. This unique sizing metric cuts down on the chances of saggy bottoms or wedgies while you surf. Rachel loves these bottoms because they “have nice booty coverage and are high waisted to allow for tummies!”

One Piece: The Cut Out One Piece

If you’re looking for a one piece for your next surf excursion, our Cut Out One Piece is the suit for you. This swimsuit has the look of a bikini, but the properties of a one piece so you won’t have to worry about the waves eating your top or bottom. This suit has adjustable shoulder straps and expandable chest coverage that is perfect for staying put while you surf.

Our Favorite Swimwear for Lighter Activity:

Bikini Top: The Plunge Top

The Plunge Top is ideal for lighter activities for its moderate support and maximum adjustability. We love this swimsuit for activities like paddle boarding, hot-tubbing and just hanging out by the pool or beach. This top offers removable cups and a tie-back to fit any body type. The plunging style gives lift and tasteful cleavage in the front.

Bikini Bottom: The High Hip Bottom

We love the High Hip Bottom for light activities because it offers coverage and comfort for your active lifestyle that doesn’t skimp on looking stylish. This bottom has a tie at the waist that can be placed in the front or the back depending on the aesthetic you’re looking for. These offer cheeky booty coverage sans any and all diaper butt or riding up!
